this is me.

…and my oldest granddaughter.

My grandmother taught me to sew, crochet and macrame when I was 10. We made an entire set of porcelain dishes that I still use every Sunday for family brunch. She imbued me with a sense of possibility and introduced me to the joy of making things.

I went to art school in the early 80s. I have lived in an artists colony and worked in a bronze arts foundry. I have also worked as a sailor, a chef, and an RN.

I married a man with 3 kids, then grandkids started showing up, then my aging parents needed help.

I know what it’s like, the deals you make with yourself…tomorrow i will get some me time. I will turn the spare bedroom into a studio. I’ll open an etsy shop. Then the phone rings.

Carl Jung describes life as a 2-part journey- the first half is about building an identity, a career, a family…moving outward. The second half is about the journey home. Moving inward. Home to yourself.

Self-care is much more than a bubble bath or a massage, though both of those things are nice. Self-care is about discovering your own path home, and then walking it. No one can do this for you.

In 2022 I left healthcare and returned to my work as an artist. Color is my first and true religion, I practice daily. The Paint from your Soul process has been a big part of my own healing, so I became a facilitator. It is amazing to watch the light come on in other people’s eyes as they paint their way along…and begin the journey home.
